A display of Liberty jewellery would be a feast for our eyes insofar as technical perfection / aesthetics of the stone settings are concerned; the more beautiful the stones are, all the more beautiful they will become by means of their settings. My grandfather, Eliseo Zoratti, was a skilled master goldsmith. At times, when faced with a poor quality stone, he would say "art will remedy what nature lacks". This goes to show that if a stone is well set, even one of poor quality can acquire dignity.
The art of stone setting requires time, patience and dedication, all qualities we have lost today. Stone setting represents a small part of my work that I have had the fortune to learn from an excellent master.
The great tradition of stone setting lives on in a course organized for all those wishing to learn this refined technique. The course will be held with a maximum of 10 participants. A part of the equipment will be provided by the Museum and by agc, the rest will be personal equipment of the participants and will remain the property of each participant at the end of the course.
A good technical level is required in order to take part in the course. Participants will need to bring their own equipment.
